Colors and Numbers

Today in Art class the Sparrows learned about cool colors and warm colors. Donna gave them two pieces of paper for them to color with water colors, one for the warm colors and one for the cool colors. Friends took their time coloring and the results were impressive.
Back in the classroom we had morning meeting and then choice time.

During choice time some Sparrows played a math game using simple addition and subtraction.

...and while playing the game, why not to make funny faces to the camera?

The object of the game is to get four pumpkins in a row! Friends used manipulatives to help with adding and subtracting numbers. The manipulatives serve as a great visual and help with number awareness.

Friends playing kitties in the dramatic play area.

Here we have a group of Sparrows playing a number matching game, working on number awareness and one-to-one correspondence. Down below, a group of friends are putting a puzzle together. It is so gratifying to observe the Sparrows communicating with each other to accomplish a common task.

Today some Sparrows were finishing their self-portraits. As the year passes by it is wonderful to see our friends adding more and more details to their work. :)
