We began this morning in Spanish with Alicia. Alicia read Oso pardo, oso pardo, ¿qué ves ahí? The Sparrows have read Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see? many times in class, and have now been reading it in Spanish to practice the names of colors and animals.
After reading, Alicia went over each animal in the book with a flashcard. She then scattered the cards on the floor for friends to play Matamoscas. Friends took turns using the swatters and calling out the Spanish words.
Today, Taylor's dad joined in on the fun!
Following Spanish, we practiced singing Baby Beluga. Friends love this book and singing the song!
Between Spanish and morning meeting, we had choice time. Friends built with magnatiles, played in the dramatic play area, worked with playdough and drew at the drawing table.
Once the classroom was cleaned up, we gathered on the front rug for a read aloud. A friend brought in the book I Am Enough. This is a beautiful book that talks about loving yourself and spreading kindness.
Following our read aloud, friends journaled about what they love about themselves.
Their responses are listed below.
Taylor- I love my belly.
Henry- I love laughing.
Devin- I love my hands and my arms because I can hug people.
Thea- I love my laugh.
Seth- I love my belly.
Zoë- I love my feet.
