Homemade Playdough

This morning cooking ingredients and a large pot were placed on the table. Friends took turns guessing what all of the ingredients were for. The predictions were synonymous...playdough! The Sparrows were correct! Today we made our first batch of playdough for the year. Friends used their math skills to measure the different ingredients, count the amount of scoops for each, and stir the mixture. The Sparrows not only practiced their math, but turn-taking as well. Friends voted on which color to make the playdough. The playdough still has to cook, so tomorrow we will be able to play with it!

The Sparrows also had music today. Friends walked into the classroom, and were free to explore with the different instruments set out. We went over The Cobbler and enjoyed singing some other songs together. Once it was time to stand, friends moved around the room to the different beats.

After lunch, we had a visitor. It was Alicia, who came to teach us a chant! Alicia explained that tomorrow morning at assembly she is going to need our help in saying a chant. The chant is in Spanish, and is about Fall and trees. We learned the words hojas (leaves), ramas (branches), troncos (trunk), and raĆces (roots).

Ask your Sparrow what color we made the playdough.
