Busy, Busy, Busy Day!

Today in art the Sparrows made snowflakes! Donna showed us how using popsicle sticks we can create our very own snowflakes. First you take one popsicle stick and put a tiny dot of glue in the middle. Then, using another popsicle stick, place it on top of the dot of glue to make a lowercase "t." You repeat this two more times, placing the popsicle sticks on angles.

Friends carefully placed their dots, making sure to not use a lot! Once all the popsicle sticks were glued together, friends received a white pompom to place on top.

Next, the Sparrows delicately painted their fresh snowflakes with white paint. Once all covered, friends squeezed a bit of glitter glue (gold and silver) to spread around on top.

Friends enjoyed watching their snowflakes sparkle.

Free play in music.

To begin music, we sang Jambo, and then stayed seated in the circle to sing The Cobbler.

Next, friends stood up and received a scarf to sing along and do movements to It's Snowing. During It's Snowing, there were verses where friends had to keep their bodies still and use their scarves as hats, scarves, gloves, and jackets to get dressed to get ready to go out and "play" in the snow.

Lastly, friends made "popcorn." The scarf was the bag of popcorn, and then it would sizzle and sizzle, and pop and pop, and then friends would eat the popcorn. Friends had a lot of fun mixing the different tempos.

Soon it was time to put the scarves away and sing out goodbye song.

Back in the classroom, we read a story and then got ready for snack. Today we celebrated Shiloh's birthday. Friends enjoyed yummy cupcakes, along with soft pretzels, which friends will now enjoy every Thursday for soft pretzel day!

Happy birthday, Shiloh!
