Spanish, Sorting, Splashing!

Today, as always, the Sparrows thoroughly enjoyed Spanish class with Alicia. They started with singing Buenos Dias.

After the song our "amigos" were ready to take some deep breaths to calm their bodies and better focus on learning.

Alicia read us a book about types of weather, El Tiempo, since the Sparrows are studying the weather. Friends will now have the opportunity to learn weather vocabulary not only in English, but in Spanish as well.

Then, Alicia introduced us to a weather song in Spanish, which all of the friends enthusiastically participated in singing.

A little bit later, Alicia presented Ana, a puppet "amiga de Alicia" (Alicia's friend).  Ana said hola! to our amigos.

To end Spanish class, one of the friends had a turn to squeeze "la vaca"(cow), and today was Henry's turn to do so. La vaca says "muuuchas gracias," and in return the friends respond with "de nada" (you are welcome).

During choice time, some Sparrows decided to play with Mr. Potato Head, others chose play dough and some decided to play with train tracks and magnatiles. The Sparrows love to build!

While playing in the classroom, we heard it start to rain very heavily!! We decided to go to the playground door to enjoy a better view.  We watched in silence for a bit to appreciate the sound of the rain, the fast and slow rhythms. We learned a fancy word for rain: precipitation. We also learned the name of the clouds that were in the sky at that moment: nimbostratus.

As mentioned, we know the Sparrows love to build, and for that reason the teachers gave them a big container with legos, shapes and connectors that were all mixed up. Some friends chose to help sort them all, and put them in their specified containers.

Before lunch we decided to go outside since the rain had stopped. We all were very surprised to see the big puddle that the rain had formed on our playground.
The Sparrows were very excited, wearing their rain boots and splashing in the puddle.

We also began working on our Harvest Fest t-shirts today! The Sparrows chose the color purple for their shirts. We began the dye process today, and in the days to follow will add our design. Each friend took a turn placing their shirt into the tub of dye.
