Dots, Pumpkins, and T-shirts!

The Sparrows got their day started right away in art class. Friends sat around the big table to watch and listen to a demonstration by Donna. Donna explained we would be using a certain technique today: pointillism. Friends learned that pointillism is when an artist paints a lot of tiny little dots to create an image.

Friends got started at their tables with a piece of black paper and a bat cutout. We taped the bat to the paper to hold it still. Friend's then took their pompom, holding it between their thumb and index finger, and dipped it into the paint to start creating little dots around the bat.

Friends had a lot of fun dipping their pompoms into the paint and dotting it onto the paper. Some friends chose to create multiple bats on their artwork.

Ask your Sparrow what pointillism is.

Over in music, the Sparrows enjoyed some free play before sitting down to circle. During circle, Keisha read us Five Little Pumpkins.

In the story, each of the five pumpkins has a "job." For our movement portion of class, friends acted out the different "jobs" of the pumpkins and words to the story.

Back in the classroom, we had our morning meeting.

One of our in-house meteorologists gave us a look at today's weather: cool and sunny.

Today, the Sparrows started to put their own personal touches on our Harvest Fest t-shirts!

All of our EC friends have been working on decorating their shirts for Harvest Fest and are very excited to show you! We ask that friends do not come to school dressed in costume on this day, as they will have their own decorated shirt to wear! Harvest Fest is Tuesday, October 31st, hope to see you all there!

Dress up day!

Today the Sparrows shared the last meeting for Worship with their 3rd grade buddies. Then Friends enjoyed the rest of the day playing ...
