Winter Fest

What a way to start the day!
This morning the Sparrows were treated to caroling from Seth, his brothers and mom! Thank you for the show stopping performance and coming to spread some holiday cheer!

The cheer did not end there. Soon later the Sparrows walked over to the gym to take part in our annual all school Winter Fest!

Winter Fest is a special all school event where the orchestra plays, chorus sings, skits are acted out and more. This is a time for the whole school to be together and recognize the holidays and Quaker values.

The Sparrows, along with the Catbirds, Cardinals, and kindergarteners, did their part in decorating the Christmas tree.

After Winter Fest, we came back to the classroom to enjoy choice time together.
Some friends chose to make cards...

dig in the sandbox...

cook in the kitchen...

...and play games at the table.

Today we celebrated a Sparrow birthday!
Happy birthday, Taylor!

The Sparrows had a very busy day...actually week! Friends have been working very hard to get ready for tomorrow's show, wrap up "before winter break things," and squeeze in all the Sparrow time we have before winter break begins. We want to lift up all of the Sparrows for being especially flexible and team players!
The Sparrows cannot wait to perform for you all at tomorrow's Winter Program!

Cookies and snow!

This morning in Spanish, Alicia read us La Noche Buena. The story takes place in Little Havana in Miami. La Noche Buena is a Christmas story that shares a family's holiday traditions. It was beautiful and interesting story that helped to bring up fun family holiday memories and traditions.

Alicia introduced us to her friend, Pancho, who loves to sing Feliz Navidad

Later this morning, Rachel, Devin's mom, came in to share their family holiday tradition. Rachel shared that during holiday time her and Devin bake cookies together and then decorate them.

The Sparrows each got three cookies and chose icing and sprinkles to decorate with.

Rachel read us The Gruffalo's Child to end our time together.

This afternoon, ZoĆ«'s mom and dad, Shelly and Eric, came in to do a craft with us. We made snow people! Using shaving cream, glue, glitter, and peppermint extract, we created a puffy shaving cream mixture.

Once friends' puffy paintings were complete, friends received different types of accessories to decorate their snowmen and women (and dogs!).

At the end of Shelly and Eric's visit, they gave out homemade vanilla ice cream! Friends gave it a thumbs up. Some gave it moose ears!!

Thank you families for coming in and sharing your family holiday traditions with us!

Dress up day!

Today the Sparrows shared the last meeting for Worship with their 3rd grade buddies. Then Friends enjoyed the rest of the day playing ...
